Fimi Valencia January 22 - 24 2010 (International Fair of Children's and Young People's Fashion)

Spain’s biggest children’s fashion fair set in the city of Valencia, hosts daily catwalks, a large main hall with predominately Italian and Spanish brands and a contemporary entrance housing the newer, younger labels. The fair caters for Spain’s designer tot’s demands, evidence being the six Spanish magazine stands all showcasing their take on children’s fashion. So what does the Spanish market like? Predominately most stands take was preppy, slightly Ralph Lauren for children or for evening Monnalisa were an inspiration or even Hucklebones, but not in an ironic sense.

The highlight was Fimi’s new contemporary hall, with Tammy Donohoe offering beautiful outfits for girls, handcrafted knits and dresses with lovely lace details. Home-grown talent Mosquito En Alaska range of wear for baby and toddlers, fashioned in jerseys, using a pallet of pinks, purples, dusty yellows and grey.

The daily fashion shows caused much excitement. Floc Baby presented a promising collection of dress wear fashioned in casual fabrics and styled with an equestrian feel. Elisa Menuts epitomized the aesthetics of most of Fimi’s stands; preppy, slightly conservative day wear and AKR kids showcased casual wear, punctuated with bright colours and stripes.
