Mary’s Charity Shop

Mary Portas ‘Queen of Shops’ has teamed up with Grazia Magazine to open a pop-up charity shop at Westfield Shopping Center in aid of Save the Children. The shop, aptly titled ‘Mary’s Charity Shop’, has had donations from Sarah Mower of American Vogue, Luella Bartley and Savannah Miller. Harvey Nichols are dressing the windows and the best thing is that there will be a whole childrenswear section. The shop will be opening on 4 June and will disappear on the 27 June. Hurry!

Baby Connection





French Connection today unveiled their debut baby collection at St Martins Lane Hotel. The capsule collection features minimalist ‘loungewear’ (baby grows, hats, tops and bottoms with super-cute coordinating teddies) made in soft jersey decorated with spots, stars and stripes. The Autumn/Winter 09 range will be available in selected stores from August, ages 0-18 months.

Colette bring in the children

The new look







High street giant New Look has launched its much-admired childrenswear online. Enthused by the luxury market, the boys and girls collection aimed at 2-10 year olds is heavy on print and graphics, quirky detailing, novel cuts and lots of mini-me outfits. Shelving the customary blandness of the high street’s standard attempt at the childrens department and offering a refreshing range of looks.

Highlights from last week’s press shows

















The press shows last week offered a chance to view some of next season’s top-notch collections. Alongside BHS’ dependable ‘occasion’ wear of bridesmaid dresses and boys suits came new offerings in the Duck and Dodge brand for boys and Millie for girls (ages 2-12) of striped jerseys and graphic print dresses layered over tees. Checked hooded jackets for boys and neon party tutus for girls also stood out. If you are looking for a party outfit, New Look promises something ‘stand out’ with hints of animal print and many, many sequined dresses. Everything was very pretty over at Little White Company with rose pink and pale blues, contrasted by all-in ones with shots of red stripes and heart print designs. Petit Bateau has some gems, including star-print shirts in paint pot red and animal prints on long-sleeved collarless dresses. Burnt orange is a key colour. Other highlights included the baby’s blanket and sleeping bag, both in knitted stripes of bilberry, burnt orange, green, cream and blue.
